Technology Standards Addressed:
III – Technology for Learning and Collaboration ·A. Learning o1 – Select and use technology tools to enhance learning
Use technology tools, including software and hardware, from a range of teacher-selected options to learn new content or reinforce skills
Description:
I used the Flip camera and Windows Movie Maker to record episodes 2 and 3 of Techie Buzz. Episode 2 featured studyisland.com, a tool that our school used to support students in their preparation for the MSA. Episode 3 featured other math sites used in a fourth grade math class to prepare for the MSA. Episode 4 was student created, and featured a student who explained how technology is everywhere.
Reflection:
The students really enjoyed using the Flip cameras, so much so that they wanted to do extra videos. This is the first time I remember that they have asked to do extra work! I was surprised to see their technical skill and ease in front of, as well as behind, the camera. Once teachers saw me with the camera, I was recruited to help with many extra projects, including filming people for National Board, and helping record class presentations for posterity. JHFI loves the Flip cams!
